A 32-year-old man named Falomo Tolulope was detained by the Osun State Police Command for opening fire on protesting students at the Osun State College of Education in Ilesa.

On October 27, 2022, the suspect opened fire on a group of students who were participating in a protest over the state government's alleged lack of sincerity regarding the expansion of the College of Education into a full-fledged university. Three schoolmates were hurt in the arms and legs, though their wounds were of varying severity.

SP Yemisi Opalola, who issued a statement confirming the arrest on Thursday, November 10, 2022, alleged that Falomo shot at the victims with a pump-action gun after getting into a fight with the demonstrators.

It was reported by the PPRO that the suspect was apprehended on November 7, 2022 at his hiding in the Odo Oro Area of Ilesa, and that the pump-action gun was recovered from him, along with one spent cartridge.

Students at Osun State College of Education Ilesa were specifically targeted in the statement: "Falomo Tolulope'm' aged 32yrs alias Ifa who shot at several of the protesting student has been apprehended."

While students were engaged in a peaceful demonstration/protest on October 27, 2022, at approximately 1100hrs, Falomo opened fire with a Pump Action gun after an altercation broke out between him and the demonstrators. Three (3) kids were injured, with some suffering more serious injuries to their arms and legs than others, and were ultimately treated and released from the hospital.

"The Police Command under the leadership of CP Faleye S. Olaleye, psc, did not rest on their quest to get the suspect apprehended, and on 7th November, 2022, they apprehended him at Odo Oro Area, Ilesa, where he was hibernating, and the Pump Action Gun used to commit the act was recovered from him with one expended cartridge.

"Osun State's new top cop, CP Faleye S. Olaleye, psc, wants to stress again that he's here to help and make the state a safe haven for all kinds of people. He is determined to clean up the state and put an end to all criminal activity.

You'll remember that in just over two weeks as Commissioner of Police, he's already detained over 200 high-profile criminals, a truly remarkable feat.

Osun is known as the "State of Virtuous," and the CP wants its citizens to feel safe going about their daily lives there.
