Sadio Mane has been "ruled out" of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Sadio Mane, a football player for Senegal, reportedly won't play in the World Cup for his country in Qatar after suffering a tendon injury on November 9 during Bayern Munich's match against Werder Bremen.

Just 20 minutes into Bayern's Tuesday night 6-1 victory over Bremen, the former Liverpool forward was substituted.

He won't participate in the competition, according to L'Equipe, delivering the defending Africa Cup of Nations champions a severe setback.

Senegal's group stage opponents include Qatar's hosts, Ecuador, and Holland.

L'Equipe reports that Mane is thought to have sustained a tendon injury and will be absent for "many weeks," giving national team coach Aliou Cisse a big dilemma only days before unveiling his World Cup roster.

After first stating that the player had suffered a blow to the tibia, his Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann said the player would undergo an X-ray to ascertain the severity of the injury and expressed his hope that it was 'not a significant damage'

He claimed that "he took a blow to the head of his tibia." "It's never comfortable." He must undergo an X-ray. I hope everything is okay. I hope it's not a serious injury because I didn't see him after the game. But I'm not sure right now," the Bayern manager continued. We'll wait till tomorrow before providing an update.

Mane has been a thrilling player for Bayern this season after moving to Germany from Liverpool for £35 million. In 23 games in all competitions, he has 11 goals and four assists.
