The agency reported that at 3.30 p.m. on Monday, a 40-year-old man was arrested with 1.6 kilograms of white and brown Methamphetamine and the equivalent of $650,700 in cash.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Port Harcourt, Ahmed Mamuda, the commander of the Rivers State NDLEA, made the announcement.
The statement, signed by the state command's spokesman Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, also said that 21 suspects, including two women, had been apprehended by the command.
According to the statement, Onuoha, a native of Elele Alimini town in the state, is currently being held in the command's detention facility while an investigation is conducted.
"Meanwhile, in October 2022, the command successfully prosecuted 21 drug dealers at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, and the convicts are currently serving various prison terms at the Correctional Service Centre, in Port Harcourt.
Along with the seizure of 424.72kg of illegal drugs like cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa, and methamphetamine also known as 'Mkpurunmiri,' the command also arrested 21 suspects (19 males and 2 females).
"Others include psychedelic drugs like tramadol and swinol. Ahmed Mamuda, the State Commander, has issued a call to arms to the citizens of Rivers, urging them to be on the lookout for any underground labs that may be producing methamphetamine. "Together, we must eradicate this drug menace from our society," he said.
