Man detained in Bauchi after killing a peacemaker with a knife


Idriss Baba Saje, 32, of Dass Local Government Area has been detained by the Bauchi State Police Command for fatally stabbing Yunusa Garba.

In a statement on Wednesday, January 4, the command's spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, claimed the suspect stabbed Garba on the chest with a sharp object as the victim attempted to mediate a fight between him and a hotel manager.

In accordance with the statement, "On January 1, 2023, at approximately 01:30 HRS, the Patrol team attached to the Command's Quick Intervention Unit (QIU), while on routine patrol at Bayan Gari Area, received a distress call indicating that one Idriss Baba Saje had an altercation that resulted in a physical confrontation with the Manager of Liberty Hotel Bayan Gari.

Idriss Baba Saje, the suspect, stabbed Yunusa Garba, a 25-year-old man from the Gwallaga Area of Bauchi, who had arrived to intercede, with a sharp object on his chest, causing injuries.

After learning of the incident, the patrol team quickly went to the location and took the victim to the Bauchi Specialist Hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead.

After the suspect was detained and admitted to the crime, police commissioner CP Aminu Alhassan psc(+) ordered that the suspect be charged with the offense right away.
