Woman who poured boiling water on her co-wife in Kwara was remanded by the court.

For allegedly throwing boiling water on her co-wife, Bilikisu Abdulsalam, a 42-year-old housewife named Lola Abdulsalam was remanded in a correctional facility by an Ilorin Magistrate's Court.


In violation of sections 247 and 292 of the penal code, the police filed a two-count first information report against Lola on Friday. The charges against her border on causing great bodily harm and defamation of character.


The defendant allegedly insulted and physically hurt Bilikisu as she was retrieving a dead rat from the backdoor, according to the police.


The charge sheet states that after calling Bilikisu a witch and beginning to beat her with a broom, "the defendant (Lola) proceeded into the kitchen to fetch hot water from the fire and poured it over her body, leaving her face, breasts, and other portions of her body severely scorched."


After being taken to Cottage Hospital in Olorunshogo, Ilorin, the sufferer was treated there.


ASP Zacheus Folorunsho, the prosecutor, urged the court to hold the suspect in custody until the conclusion of the police investigation into the incident.


The prosecutor's request was granted by Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki, who also mandated that Lola be held at the Oke-Kura correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State.


As a result, he postponed the subject to March 6, 2023.
