Actress confronted by EFCC after treading on and spraying new Naira notes

Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress and cosmetologist, is the subject of an investigation by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCCLagos )'s Zonal Command for allegedly tampering with the redesigned Naira notes, a violation of Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria's CBN Act, 2007.

Omoseyin was detained by agents of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, according to a statement made by the agency on Friday, February 3.

Following the online publication of a video showing the 31-year-old splashing and trampling the freshly redesigned Naira notes at a party, the woman was taken into custody. She was also seen flaunting stacks of the brand-new Naira notes in the trending video.

The suspect was then given to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for additional inquiries, according to a statement.

The agency also stated that a Range Rover and an iPhone were found on her at the time of her detention.

When the inquiry is complete, the suspect will be charged in court.
