Prior to the state assembly elections on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State started distributing sensitive information on Wednesday.

The distribution took place on the grounds of the Osogbo Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Security personnel and journalists were present during the exercise, which was overseen by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Dr. Mutiu Agboke.

Speaking before to the start of the exercise, Agboke promised that despite the state not holding a governorship election, the commission would step up its level of preparation, processes, and security due to the high stakes associated with the election.

In order to ensure a trouble-free election, he stated that armed security personnel would be on duty at collation centers throughout the state. He also added that security personnel would send more men to violently volatile areas.

We are here for our customary rites, he continued. the customs of removing sensitive materials that we've been keeping in the CBN for the past few weeks in preparation for the upcoming State House of Assembly election.

"While there is no gubernatorial election in Osun State, voters will still choose members of the House of Assembly, which is why we have brought out ballots and a results sheet. They will be divided up into Local Governments in batches. There are thirty locations where you can find them. They have already been customized, making it simpler to deploy them to different Local Governments.

"What we're saying is that the security has promised us that the right deployment would be done, especially in those areas where violence has been the norm. From the Ward level up to the Local Government and State collation levels, we will safeguard all of our various levels of collecting. We'll make sure all of our armed security professionals are present.
